Future PSG player Milan Škriniar stripped of Inter captaincy | OneFootball

Inter centre-back Milan Škriniar (27) has been stripped of the captaincy by I Nerazzurri head coach Simone Inzaghi, according to a report from L’Equipe. The Slovakian defender has signed a contract to join PSG on a free transfer this summer. PSG tried to lure Škriniar this winter, but no deal has been reached between Inter and Les Parisiens, mostly because the Lombardy outfit had to time left to find a suitable replacement. The 58-cap Slovakian international has played 238 games for Inter since his transfer from Sampdoria in 2017.

Škriniar was reportedly keen to push forward his transfer to PSG this winter, but he’ll have to wait a further five months before donning the blue and red jersey. With Inter still involved in three competitions (Serie A, Italian Cup and Champions League), head coach Simone Inzaghi needs all hands, and feet, on deck and every player focused on their duties to the club. This prompted Inzaghi to strip Škriniar of the captaincy. “Because of what happened, Škriniar won’t be the captain anymore. This has been discussed calmly between the club and him.“

The future PSG centre-back is nevertheless expected to start tomorrow evening as Inter take on AC Milan for a mouth-watering Derby della Madonnina.
