Inter Milan will take a must-win UEFA Champions League trip to Sparta Prague without injured veteran Francesco Acerbi.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, further exams have shown no serious damage to the center-back’s thigh.
However, the 36-year-old will not be at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal for tomorrow’s fixture at the epet ARENA.
Unfortunately, Acerbi will not be the only high-profile absentee.
Indeed, Inzaghi cannot call upon the services of Hakan Calhanoglu, who could return to the fold at the end of January.
As for the ex-Lazio defender, the timetable for his recovery remains uncertain.
In addition to Acerbi, Inzaghi will be without Yann Bisseck.
But the German star could be back for Inter’s Serie A match against Lecce next weekend.
In the worst-case scenario, Bisseck should return for Monaco’s visit to Giuseppe Meazza in the league-phase finale.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi will rely on Stefan de Vrij and Benjamin Pavard to partner Alessandro Bastoni at the back.
The latter has recently rejoined the squad after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
However, there’ll be no excuse tomorrow as Inter must beat Sparta to consolidate their bid to lock down a Round-of-16 berth.
