The administrators are tasked with bringing in a new owner, and it had been confirmed at the time that there was plenty of interest.

And, in a further development shared today, the Telegraph have revealed that there are seven serious groups involved. They stated that one is a consortium that involved former Wolves CEO Jez Moxey, whilst Garry Cook has been in talks, along with American investment firm Carlisle Capital.

Whilst they wouldn’t name the latest two groups to enter talks with the club, they explained that there are seven in total.

The update also adds that the issues with the EFL could be ‘pivotal’ to any deal going through. they were hit with after entering administration, with another punishment possible.

As it stands, Wayne Rooney’s side are bottom of the table and seven points from safety.

The verdict

Firstly, you have to say that it’s good news given the circumstances that there is plenty of interest in Derby, as it obviously increases the chances of sorting something.

Nevertheless, the report does state that there will still be hurdles to overcome and there will be plenty of work to do to finalise a deal, but there’s a willingness from all to get something done.

You would expect more twists though, with the EFL appeal and another potential deduction possible, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
