Raul Jimenez is closing in on a Premier League record after scoring two penalties in Fulham’s draw with Ipswich Town.
The Mexican converted both goals for Fulham from the spot, including a stoppage-time leveller to earn Marco Silva’s side a point at Craven Cottage.
Jimenez has now scored all 10 penalties he has taken in his Premier League career, with only two players having scored more without missing.
Cole Palmer is the current record holder. The Chelsea midfielder reached 12 penalties with a 100% record when he scored twice from the spot in his side’s 4-3 win over Tottenham last month. Palmer’s penalties moved him past former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure (11/11) to claim the record outright.
Jimenez has now moved within two penalties of Palmer, having extended his flawless record from 12 yards as a Premier League player. The 33-year-old has enjoyed a renaissance at Fulham this season and has now scored eight goals in 15 league starts for the West Londoners.
It’s the forward’s highest-scoring Premier League season since he netted 17 goals for former club Wolves in 2019/20.
Jimenez has also now scored 55 top-flight goals in English football. His double against Ipswich saw the veteran overtake ex-Manchester United and West Ham striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez for the most Premier League goals by a Mexican footballer.
