Marco Silva facing defensive problems before meeting leaders at Anfield
Fulham have a defensive dilemma as they prepare for the challenge of facing Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield today.
Joachim Andersen remains sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury, while Calvin Bassey is suspended after earning his fifth yellow card of the season in the 1-1 home draw with Arsenal last weekend.
That leaves manager Marco Silva without two of his senior centre-backs as his side face a daunting trip to Merseyside this afternoon.
Issa Diop is likely to retain his place, and he could be partnered by summer signing Jorge Cuenca or by a midfielder or full-back deputising in central defence.
If Cuenca does get the nod, then the former Villarreal man will be making his first start in the Premier League after two in the Carabao Cup this term.
Fulham will also be without Reiss Nelson, who has a hamstring injury which Silva expects to keep the Arsenal loanee sidelined for around 10 weeks.
Midfielder Harrison Reed is also absent due to a knee injury sustained last month, while club captain Tom Cairney is again suspended following his red card at Tottenham.
Predicted Fulham XI: Leno; Tete, Diop, Cuenca, Robinson; Berge, Lukic; Iwobi, Smith Rowe, Traore; Jimenez
Injured: Nelson, Andersen, Reed
Suspended: Cairney, Bassey
