Watford midfield duo of Will Hughes and Nathaniel Chalobah are still on Marco Silva’s wish-list at Fulham, as reported by The Athletic.
The report states that Silva is a big admirer of both players, something that stemmed when the 44-year-old was the helm at Vicarage Road.
Fulham, who would most likely be able to fund such moves as they are in their first year of parachute payments, will face competition for Hughes however.
The Athletic’s report also outlined that the 26-year-old has already held talks with two clubs regarding a summer move, with one unnamed and the other being Crystal Palace.
Newcastle and Aston Villa were also in pursuit, but neither are in active conversations with the club or Hughes.
Both Hughes and Chalobah have just one year left on their current contracts with the Hertfordshire-based club, with the latter not attracting as much attention as of yet.
The verdict
Landing just one of the aforementioned duo would be excellent business for Silva’s men.
However, it is a step down for Hughes and Chalobah, who both certainly have the ability to remain in England’s top tier this summer.
Fulham are an ambitious club, and under Silva, it is the start of a new project. A project that might appeal to the pair after working with him when he was at Watford.
The amount of Premier League attention that Hughes is attracting suggests that a move back down to the Championship is very unlikely.
But, the lack of interest in Chalobah thus far, is an excellent sign for Silva.
