Fulham have registered their interest in Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata as they accelerate their search for a replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic, as per Sky Sport Italia.

The Serbian striker has signed for Saudi giants Al-Hilal for around €54 million, and the Cottagers are looking to reinvest in a centre-forward before the transfer window closes next week.

Juventus’ Moise Kean has been linked with a move to the Craven Cottage, but manager Marco Silva has shrugged off the rumours.

The Cottagers are now looking at the possibility of signing Zapata, who has been subject to exit speculation throughout the summer.

The Colombian striker appeared to be on his way to AS Roma on a potential loan move, but the talks have fallen through at the last moment.

La Dea are open to selling their second-highest goalscorer in their history, having brought in El Bilal Toure, Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere this summer.

Zapata has been a central figure in Atalanta’s resurgence under Gian Piero Gasperini, helping his side become regular Champions League contenders.

The 32-year-old has spent half of his career in Serie A. If he moves to Fulham, it would be his first experience outside Italy after a decade.

In addition to signing a centre-forward, Fulham are also scouring the market for a midfielder and a defender.

The Cottagers are also closing in on a move for Leicester City full-back Timothy Castagne and have identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier as a top target to strengthen the backline.

After suffering a 3-0 defeat against Brentford, Fulham will take on Arsenal in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow.
