The young Finn has been the subject of widespread interest from the Championship in the last month, with the same outlet reporting that most second-tier sides would be willing to take the Bees’ striker on a loan deal as they look to strengthen their respective causes for the second half of the season.

It had previously been uncertain as to whether he would be allowed to leave the Brentford Community Stadium during this window, with The Guardian’s Will Unwin previously reporting that the top-tier outfit were seeking to keep him around Thomas Frank’s first-team squad.

Nonetheless, Sky Sports now believe that he has been given the green light to leave the English capital – and is still likely to have no shortage of sides pursuing his signature.

Football League World understands Fulham, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion were all monitoring the availability of the 22-year-old last month ahead of this window.

However, the imminent arrival of Folarin Balogun at the Riverside may rule Boro out of this race having already recruited Aaron Connolly from Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this month.

It also remains to be seen whether Forest are still in the race to secure his signature after bolstering their frontline with their own loanee in Aston Villa’s Keinan Davis, who impressed on his debut against Arsenal last weekend.

The Verdict:

At this stage, it doesn’t look as though Boro or Forest will be the best destination for Forss – and with the forward options they have at their disposal – a move to Paul Heckingbottom’s Blades may also not be the best career choice.

The South Yorkshire side could be looking to reduce their forward options during this month, potentially opening up a space for him to join, but they are likely to place their faith in Rhian Brewster considering the money they spent on him with Billy Sharp also looking healthier than ever.

It would also be a surprise to see him go to West Brom at this moment in time and he certainly wouldn’t be a starter over Daryl Dike – but the possible departure of Jordan Hugill may provide him with a place on the bench – something he won’t want as he seeks regular football.

It would be the same story for him at Fulham with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Rodrigo Muniz, so Stoke may be the best option for him at this stage if he can beat the competition to earn his place in the starting lineup.

Tyrese Campbell may be one of the first names on the teamsheet when fit and available – but there’s certainly space alongside him if Michael O’Neill wants to play a 3-4-1-2 system throughout the remainder of the season and that’s a spot Forss could claim.
