Fulham midfielder Harry Wilson has been fined £2,500 after he was caught speeding in his supercar at nearly 100mph on the M6 motorway.

The incident happened on the northbound M6 near Stafford on February 3, just over two hours before Wilson’s Fulham kicked off away at Burnley in the Premier League.

The match finished in a 2-2 draw which Wilson was ruled out of due to a shoulder injury.

Wilson was prosecuted in the Single Justice Procedure at Birmingham magistrates court, and sent in a written guilty plea along with an apology.

“I apoogise for my excessive speed on that day”, he wrote.

“I have no excuse for my behaviour and will endeavour to abide by the speed limit in future to ensure my own and other road users’ safety.”

Wilson came through the ranks at Liverpool and had spells at Bournemouth and Cardiff before signing for Fulham in 2022. He also has 54 Wales caps.

He admitted being the speeding driver after being written to by Staffordshire Police at his home in Surrey.

A police staffer told the court Wilson could not be given a fixed penalty fine “due to the fact that the recorded speed was too high”.

At court on August 29, Wilson was handed five penalty points for his driving licence, and he was ordered to pay a £2,500 fine. He must also pay a £1,000 victim surcharge and £90 in costs.

Despite his glea plea and apology, Wilson, who is on an estimated £35,000-a-week wage at Fulham, was handed the maximum financial penalty for speeding by a magistrate who decided on the sentence in a private hearing while sitting alone.
