As per Fabrizio Romano, Fulham have made a verbal proposal worth £4m for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Despite it being understood that Chelsea want double the proposed fee for the winger, negotiations are advanced and The Cottagers are confident in getting the deal done in the coming days.
Either fee would see Marco Silva’s side pick up the Englishman on a deal for significantly less than his €15m market value, a figure which has fallen drastically from heights of €35m in March 2021, as per Transfermarkt.
The 22-year-old made his debut for The Blues in 2018, but has been hampered by injuries since and struggled to solidify a starting place at his boyhood side- making 72 Premier League appearances, 32 of which were starts, scoring four and assisting 12.
Furthermore, after starting 11 League games under Thomas Tuchel in the 2021/22 season- the highest he’s ever achieved- Hudson-Odoi spent the last year on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, but struggled again to make an impact, starting seven and gaining one goal and one assist.
Despite his issues with fitness and consistency, the U17 World Cup winner has shown glimpses of his exciting talent in the past. Able to play on either wing, his excellent ability to carry the ball, take on defenders, and creativity from various positions various positions would be a fitting addition to Marco Silva’s side next season- who are looking to bolster their wide options this summer, with Brazilian international Willian already having signed a new one-year deal with the London side, following the expiration of his previous contract at the club in June, whilst Manor Solomon and Neeskens Kebano have departed on free transfers.
This news marks another chapter in what has already been a chaotic transfer window at Craven Cottage this summer. Calvin Bassey is set to join for €21m from Ajax, Raúl Jiménez has completed a £5.5m move from Premier League Rivals Wolves, meanwhile last season’s top scorer Aleksandar Mitrović, has already seen two £35m+ bids from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal turned down, and looks set to force his way out of the club, having reportedly told his family that he ‘never wants to play for the club again’ -according to Sky Sports.
As well as the Serbian striker, Fulham’s Portuguese boss Silva has also been subject of bids from the Gulf state, however, has shown his commitment to the club by rejecting a two-year contract worth £40m from Al Ahli.
