Manchester United face further competition from Fulham for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.
United are looking into bringing in a striker to add competition for Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
In addition, with Marcus Rashford’s future up in the air, it has also been stated that United are looking at attackers and one replacement they see is Ferguson.
The Irishman sparked into life in the 2022/2023 season, scoring 10 goals as a teenager but he has struggled to break into the starting line up in this campaign.
Ferguson is reportedly keen to depart Brighton in search of more regular game time and Juventus have also been credited with an interest in the forward.
The Independent claim however that there is another team that could stand in United’s way.
“Fulham are investigating a deal for Evan Ferguson in the January transfer window,” the outlet says.
“Marco Silva wants to boost his forward options in what is shaping up to be a promising season, and the Brighton striker is being looked at as a serious option.”
The Seagulls’ coach Fabian Hurzeler has stated that Ferguson is not for sale but “Fulham are willing to test that stance.”
The London side are reportedly prepared to offer a loan deal which they hope could appeal to all sides.
This may see them strike an advantage over United in the pursuit of the player as Ruben Amorim’s side would be unwilling to strike such a deal unless they had an option to buy the forward at the conclusion of the loan period.
Ferguson would certainly add more young talent to an already inexperienced United attack but the club may decide to pursue a more seasoned striker such as Victor Osimhen or Randal Kolo Muani.
