Fulham are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Koln defender Timo Hubers, a report from The Daily Mail has claimed.

Hubers only joined Koln from German second-tier side Hannover last summer, but after signing a two-year deal, will be entering the final year of his contract in the summer.

Now it seems as though that is starting to attracting plenty of attention from England, as the summer transfer window moves on to the horizon.

Fee Free

According to this latest update, Fulham are monitoring the situations around Hubers, as the Championship leaders prepare for a potential return to the Premier League next season.

However, the Cottagers are not alone with their interest in the centre back, with current Premier League sides Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Leeds and Newcastle all also credited with an interest in the 25-year-old.

It has been suggested that given his contract situation, Hubers could be available for a fee in the region of £6million this summer.

To date, the centre back has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Koln – who currently sit eighth in the Bundesliga – scoring once.

The Verdict

This could be a rather useful signing for Fulham you feel.

It does look as though the Cottagers will win promotion to the Premier League, so they will have to strengthen in the summer to ensure they do not suffer another immediate relegation.

With Tim Ream approaching the latter stages of his career at 34-years-old, and Alfie Mawson and Michael Hector both out of contract this summer, centre back is an area that they may need to strengthen in this summer.

Hubers would obviously do that, while bringing some useful top-flight experience to the club, and that asking price is one you certainly feel Fulham ought to be able to afford, meaning this does look like one that could be worth pursuing.
