Fulham are closing in on a January transfer deal for Manchester City midfielder Seth Chingwaro, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 17-year-old is set to sign a long-term deal with the Craven Cottage club, with around £750,000 agreed as the transfer fee between both clubs.

Chingwaro signed a scholarship deal with Man City ahead of the new season last July but will now be plying his trade at Fulham going forward and should sign his first professional contract with the London club soon.

The teenage midfielder made his debut in the under-18 Premier League North in the latter stages of the 2023-24 campaign and will now continue his development at Fulham.

Given the fierce competition at first-team level at Man City, breaking into the squad anytime could prove very tricky for Chingwaro, but he will fancy his chances with the Cottagers and could soon catch the eye of manager Marco Silva if he can impress with the youth teams.

Fulham fans are expecting quality first-team reinforcement before the end of the January transfer window next Monday, and the potential addition of a youth team player like Chingwaro will not excite them.

However, such a signing can save the club millions in transfers going forward, and it will be intriguing to see whether he can force his way into the senior side and establish himself as a Premier League star in the near future.

Fulham are yet to make any additions to their team this window and could do with one or two quality signings as they look to push for a place in one of the European competitions at the end of the season.

They are currently tenth in the Premier League after 23 games, with eight points separating them from the top-four, and they need a strong finish to the campaign to boost their chances of playing continental football next season.
