Serie A side Frosinone will miss their goalkeeper Stefano Turati for a match after he was charged with blasphemy.
According to a report by ANSA, the Serie A have decided to hand out a one-match ban to Frosinone goalkeeper Stefano Turati for swearing at opponents using a blasphemous phrase during his side’s opening match against Napoli.
Serie A sporting judge Gerardo Mastrandrea announced the decision and said that the 21-year-old was clearly seen on TV committing a breach of conduct in the 15th minute of the match. It was the player’s as well as the club’s top-flight debut as the Serie B champions faced the Serie A champions on the opening matchday of the new season.
As the referee didn’t show a card to the goalkeeper following the incident, it was captured by cameras later on and therefore the judgement was passed. Turati will miss Frosinone’s clash against Atalanta on Saturday.
Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon also received a similar ban in March 2021.
