Newcastle United made a slow start to the season, winning just three of their opening nine Premier League matches.
However, the Magpies have hit a good run of form. They claimed a huge 1-0 victory over Arsenal at St James’ Park earlier this month, with Alexander Isak scoring the decisive goal.
Eddie Howe’s side followed that up with a comprehensively 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest courtesy of second-half goals from Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes.
Newcastle will look to continue their momentum when they return to action against West Ham United on Monday. But they are also keeping an eye on the January transfer window/
According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Miguel Almiron is likely to leave the Tyneside club in January.
Argentine club River Plate are reportedly interested in Almiron, but a transfer fee and wages are expected to be a stumbling block for a deal.
Almiron joined Newcastle in 2019 and has gone on to make 216 appearances across all competitions.
He was an important member of Howe’s team last season as he featured in 45 matches, with eight goal contributions to his name.
However, he has struggled for game time this season, starting only once in the Premier League.
The Paraguayan is behind Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy in the pecking order.
It is clear that he is not part of Howe’s future plans, and a January exit is best for all concerned.
