Carlos Augusto was born in Campinas on 7 January 1999. After coming through the youth ranks at Corinthians, he made his debut for the first team aged 19 in 2018. After three seasons, he made the move to Italy, signing for then Serie B side Monza. In his third year with the Brianzoli, he played in the Italian top flight for the first time, scoring six goals. His international debut came in 2019 as he took part in the U20 World Cup.
If he hadn't become a footballer, he knew what the future would have held. Indeed, he would have been an accountant like his father, who gave him an ultimatum: "Either you sign a contract as a professional footballer or you come and work with me."
His name immediately calls to mind Roman emperor Augustus, which is where his nickname comes from.
As a kid, he didn't dream of becoming a footballer but, at seven years old, he asked his dad to sign him up for a football school. If he hadn't played football, he probably would have gone to work with his dad.
His idols are Roberto Carlos in terms of past players and Marcelo in terms of current ones.
"The best goal I've scored in Serie A? The one I netted against Fiorentina in Florence." The Brazilian wing-back has no doubts about his best goalscoring finish so far.
During his free time, he enjoys playing video games, especially the ones dedicated to football.
In addition to football, he also loves the NFL and NBA. He doesn't have a favourite basketball or American football player, but he does like two teams in particular: Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Lakers.
This is the name of a song by Juan Carlos Mendoza which he listens to in order to get himself fired up before every match.
He admits it's a difficult choice between Italian and Brazilian cuisine, but he favours the food from his country. His favourite meal? Churrasco.
Last season, he showed that he has an eye for goal and is very capable of providing assists. But if he had to choose, scoring brings him more joy.
