Negotiations involving Manchester City and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad are ‘not progressing’, according to new details on the situation from Fabrizio Romano.

Ederson has been holding a desire to end his stay with the Premier League champions for the most-part of the ongoing summer transfer window, with Saudi Arabian clubs emerging as the most likely to meet Manchester City’s asking price demands.

However, a move to the Middle-East has been far from straightforward, with the ongoing market having already seen one potential suitor emerge, launch an official proposal, before formally withdrawing from negotiations with Manchester City bosses.

Al-Nassr’s ended hunt for Ederson was swiftly followed up by Al-Ittihad emerging in the race for the wantaway Manchester City man, but the Jeddah-based side are facing similar issues, and a deal is no closer to completion despite over a week of dialogue.

And now a new update would appear to indicate that Ederson is no closer to securing his wish of a fresh challenge within the game, whilst continuing to focus his on-field attentions on Manchester City’s pre-season tour in the United States.

As per new information from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad and Manchester City over goalkeeper Ederson are currently not progressing, while a deal remains ‘still complicated’.

It is further reiterated that the Premier League champions ‘have been clear’ regarding their asking price for the 30-year-old, demanding a package worth between €50 million and €60 million, or else there is ‘no way for a green light’.

As such, Romano reveals that Al Ittihad are also now considering other options for their goalkeeping position from La Liga and are not only restricted to committing their efforts to Manchester City’s Brazil international.

Ederson remains on duty for Manchester City this summer, progressing with his plans for the forthcoming domestic season as normal despite the uncertainty over his future and ongoing interest from Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian returned to on-field match action on Tuesday night, replacing Stefan Ortega in a planned substitution at the half-time interval of a 3-4 defeat to Celtic at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Ederson and his Manchester City teammates have now travelled north along the east coast of the United States to take on AC Milan at the Yankee Stadium in New York City, with FC Barcelon and Chelsea the remaining two opponents across the coming fortnight.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will seek to place a timeframe demand on any clubs looking to sign Ederson, with the new competitive season beginning with the FA Community Shield clash against Manchester United on August 10.
