Our Red Bulls have signed a talent from German runners-up Bayer Leverkusen in Kerim Alajbegovic. The German-Bosnian dual citizen, who is only 17 years old, has signed a contract running until 30 June 2028.
Alajbegovic is a Bosnian under-21 international - and also their youngest ever goalscorer at the age of 17 years and six months. The attacker has played for Leverkusen U19 (29 appearances with 15 goals and 13 assists) as well as their UEFA Youth League team (six appearances - including against Salzburg - with three goals). He is joining our Red Bulls' squad right away.
Details
Kerim Alajbegovic has performed superbly for Leverkusen U19 recently. He is a very creative player who packs a real goal threat and can use either foot. Despite several other clubs making queries, he decided to join us, which we are really pleased about. He gives us more flexibility and quality in attack. We know though that he is very young, so we will give him all the time he needs to settle in.
Rouven Schröder, CEO for Sport
I am delighted that the transfer worked out, and I just can't wait to get started for FC Red Bull Salzburg. It's the right move for me, as it's well known that they have developed so many young players so well here in Salzburg. I want to develop here too. Other aims with my new club are playing at the highest possible level in European competition and winning the Austrian title.
