Evan Ndicka was forced to leave the pitch early on Saturday, August 2, 2025, during the friendly match between AS Roma and RC Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. The Ivorian defender felt discomfort in his right thigh in the 40th minute and was immediately substituted.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations champion endured a tough evening despite his team's victory over Lens. Starting the match under Daniele De Rossi for this pre-season fixture, Evan Ndicka complained of muscular pain after a defensive sprint. The Ivorian defender sat down on the turf, clutching the back of his right thigh, before signaling to the bench that he could not continue.

Ndicka was given immediate medical attention as Mario Hermoso came on to replace him. While awaiting the results of further tests, AS Roma's medical staff initially suspect a problem with the thigh flexor muscle.
