It could prove to be a seismic weekend in the Premier League with huge matches at the top and bottom of the table.

Liverpool v Everton

The Premier League is leaving the best ’til last this weekend with the Merseyside derby propping up a seismic few days in the top flight.

By the time Liverpool host Everton, Manchester City could be four points clear at the top of the table and how the Toffees would love to put a dent in the Reds title challenge.

History is very much against the Blue side of the city though with Everton having won just once at Anfield in the 21st century.

That victory came the last time these two sides met on the Anfield Road with Richarlison the hero of the hour.

Frank Lampard’s side will have it all to do this time however with Jürgen Klopp’s men in arguably their richest vein of form this season.

Brentford v Tottenham

Is the race for the top four set for another twist this weekend?

A topsy-turvy battle for Champions League football next season took a huge turn over the past seven days with Tottenham losing at home to Brighton and then the Gunners beating Chelsea.

But Antonio Conte’s go to Brentford on Saturday while Arsenal host Manchester United.

Things won’t be easy for Spurs this time out though, with Brentford hitting a purple patch after a post-Christmas hangover.

The Bees have now won five of their last six games with former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen back to his best.

Manchester City love playing Watford.

Since Pep Guardiola joined the club in 2017 though, things have ramped up a notch.

The aggregate scoreline between these two sides reads Man City 35-4 Watford with City netting eight the last time these two met at the Etihad.

Will it be any different this time around?

Almost certainly not.

Arsenal v Manchester United

It’s a sign of where the power balance of English football has swung in recent years that this clash is now just an interesting side note with the more important clashes elsewhere.

Despite that though, Arsenal hosting Manchester United is still a big deal and this match could have a huge say as to who will claim the final Champions League spot come the end of the season.

United are coming off the back of an embarrassing defeat to Liverpool and haven’t won at the Emirates in the Premier League since December 2017.

The Gunners meanwhile did their top four chances a world of good in midweek when they beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and will likely be able to pick an unchanged XI.

After a barren run of three months without a goal and an niggling ankle injury, Mason Mount looks back to his potent best.

The England international has netted three goals in his last five games and helped himself to three assists as well despite Chelsea being inconsistent at best.

This weekend they host London rivals West Ham and with the Hammers surely having one eye on their Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt next week.

Expect Mount to put on a show up against the likes of Craig Dawson and his old mate Declan Rice.

Other predictions
