Freyr Alexandersson and Kortrijk deny reports of Cardiff City move

Earlier, there was a report that Freyr Alexandersson was in talks with a move to Cardiff City. The Kortrijk head coach was said to have been in Wales last week to begin talks with the club over a move to the Championship. Given that both sides share owner Vincent Tan, it is understandable why this might be seen as possible. However, the club have today released a statement denying that there were any talks between the Icelandic head coach and the Welsh side. The club also deny that Alexandersson spent any time in the Welsh capital last weekend talking to the side.

This will certainly be a huge boost to the fans of Kortrijk, who saw Alexandersson join the side in a hopeless situation last season and manage to keep them in the Belgian Pro League. Many felt far more confident that this season, with Alexandersson in charge, would see them avoid being embroiled in a relegation battle. While they have had an indifferent start to the season, it has certainly been far more positive than the start they made to the 2023/2024 campaign.
