Manchester City have drawn together a three-player summer transfer wish list which is reportedly topped by Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Pep Guardiola’s side were eliminated from the Champions League in midweek at the semi-final stage once again after a surprise late collapse against Real Madrid.
The Times report that although no deals are imminent as the club want to focus on winning the league title, they do have plans in place for three additions.
Namely, those are a striker, a holding midfielder and bringing Julián Álvarez in early to test his readiness in pre-season.
In terms of the holding midfielder, De Jong is the man the Cityzens have set their sights on, with The Times claiming that Barcelona would be open to selling due to their financial issues – but only for an offer in the region of £60 million.
Guardiola is a known fan of the Dutchman and attempted to sign him in the summer of 2019, when he spurned advances from both Manchester clubs to join the Blaugrana.
The striker they have set their sights on is, as previously reported, Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, with City currently leading the race to sign the in-demand Norway international this summer.
