Barcelona could only salvage one point in today’s clash against Rayo Vallecano, with the hosts maintaining their unbeaten record against Xavi.

One of the primary sources of attention on the field was Frenkie de Jong, who returned to the starting XI after spending two months out on the sidelines.

Despite the game ending in a draw, the Dutchman picked up the official Man of the Match award.

Commenting on his display in the post-match interview, Frenkie gave his two cents on what the game entailed.

When asked to speak on being crowned the man of the match trophy, Frenkie humbly claimed he was not at his best.

“I was not good today. I didn’t feel good,” he said.

Barcelona’s performances as of late have been anything but satisfactory, with inconsistencies holding sway. Frenkie recognized the team’s underperformance, stating:

“We haven’t played well; we haven’t been at the level we can be. We have to keep working hard to improve.”

Injuries have particularly caused the team to go adrift, with Pablo Gavi being the latest victim to have suffered a blow.

“We have had many injuries that have affected the team. There is still a season to come back.” Frenkie professed.

“I think all of us ran as hard as we could, but when we had the ball, we weren’t that good,” he added.

During the dying embers of the game, a tackle on Raphinha inside the penalty box was not given as a penalty, which has been stirring up some controversy.

When asked to speak on the matter, the Dutch International preferred to not add any fuel to the fire, saying, “I haven’t seen the play clearly.”
