There are some who feel Frenkie de Jong hasn’t truly set the world alight since his move from Ajax to Barcelona.
But Saturday’s Copa del Rey final could well be remembered as the night the Dutchman truly became a Blaugrana star.
De Jong was involved in everything good Barça did as they gave Athletic Club a schooling in Seville.
It was his cross that assisted Antoine Griezmann for the first goal, before he headed in to make it 2-0 shortly afterwards.
And then he combined with Lionel Messi brilliantly in the build-up to the third goal too.
He’s supposed to be a defensive midfielder by trade, but the 23-year-old is so much more than that.
Total football.
