There are suggestions in the media that Manchester United are still chasing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The chase lasted over 100 days in the summer before Manchester United turned their attention elsewhere. Frenkie de Jong was Erik ten Hag’s primarily target but the Netherlands midfielder remained at Barcelona.

De Jong, 25, would go on to say he never wanted to leave the club. The question is will he change his mind if his game time continues to lessen, with Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal speaking recently about his unhappiness at the situation at Camp Nou.

According to ESPN, Ten Hag has not been put off by De Jong’s public stance and won’t rule out the possibility of making another bid next summer. That means we will have to deal with more De Jong speculation for the next year at least.

ESPN reporter Rob Dawson goes on to claim sources have informed him that Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham will be another target for the Red Devils.

Dawson reports: “Sources at United added there is an acceptance they will face stern competition from Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid but they will be in the queue for his signature, having registered their interest in him during his time at Championship side Birmingham.”

It is outlined in the report that United are not planning a major revamp of their squad in January, so don’t expect too many mid-season transfers to Old Trafford.
