An update on the injury status of the Barcelona squad has been provided today after it was revealed that Frenkie de Jong will miss the rest of the season.

As the season nears its conclusion, Barca will end the season without any trophies. The club were eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals and are nowhere near La Liga leaders Real Madrid, who beat them in the recent Clásico.

The Catalan club have endured a miserable campaign in terms of injuries and they currently have three of their main stars sidelined for the rest of the season. Gavi was injured while on international duty for Spain with the player leaving the pitch in tears.

Barca have already confirmed that Gavi has suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and have announced that he will miss the rest of the season and the European Championship. Full-back Alejandro Balde was injured in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals against Athletic Club.

The player has a hamstring injury and has already undergone surgery meaning he will miss the remainder of the season. As reported by Relevo, De Jong is awaiting treatment for a grade two sprain in his right ankle and will miss the rest of the season.
