World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi has announced this Thursday that he would be calling an end to his career, having been without a club for most of the calendar year.

Having broken onto the scene at Troyes and then Saint-Étienne, the midfielder’s most successful spell came in a six-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain, during which he won four Ligue 1 titles and made just short of 300 appearances in all competitions. He then spent three years at Juventus, raking in three Serie A winners’ medals as well as a Coppa Italia win, before winding down his career across the pond at Inter Miami. His international career spanned nine years and saw him make 84 appearances, registering nine goals in that time.

Matuidi has since focused on off-the-pitch activities, namely an investment fund known as Origins supporting technology start-ups which involves more than 50 European athletes, including his former international teammates Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kanté.
