The search for a new head coach at FC Bayern is in full swing. The Munich club is currently being linked with a number of coach names. According to the latest reports, those responsible at the Isar would also be open to a dual solution.
„There are also some unusual ideas on the list,“ explained sporting director Max Eberl recently when asked about the search for a coach at the German record champions. According to the 50-year-old, FCB are not closed to new ideas when it comes to filling the coaching position.
As reported by Sport BILD, a double solution with Bayern legend Franck Ribéry and Zinédine Zidane would also be possible.
The name Zidane has been circulating around Säbener Straße for weeks. The 51-year-old has been without a club for almost three years and is looking for a new sporting challenge in the summer. According to reports, the 1998 world champion would definitely be tempted by a move to FC Bayern. The problem: Zidane does not speak German and is not fluent in English.
To overcome the language barrier, Ribery could act as assistant coach. The 40-year-old left his job as technical coach at Serie A club Salernitana in March and is looking to return to Munich to be with his family. The former France international has held a UEFA B licence since October 2023, which allows him to coach amateur teams and youth teams up to the age of 16. This licence also allows him to work as an assistant coach at a professional club.
It remains to be seen how realistic this scenario is. One thing is clear: the Zidane-Ribery duo is certainly not the Bayern bosses‘ preferred solution. According to Sport BILD, Zidane would first like to wait and see the situation at his former club Juventus Turin, where coach Massimiliano Allegri is currently shaky, before making a decision about his sporting future.
