Foot Mercato report this afternoon that Bundesliga side Freiburg have entered talks with the representatives of Marseille stirker Bamba Dieng.
OM have set their asking price for the Senegal international at €15m, with interest having already come in January as Newcastle tried to sign the forward. Several Premier League clubs remain interested.
The 22-year-old, who won the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, has scored seven goals in his 25 Ligue 1 appearances this season, particularly impressing in the first half of the season.
Dieng nevertheless insisted he was intent on staying with Marseille this summer, speaking in the wake of winning Ligue 1’s goal of the year award for an overhead kick against Strasbourg.
A transfer is not out of the question, though, and a departure from the striker would allow club president Pablo Longoria some more breathing space in this summer’s transfer window.
The striker is under contract with Marseille until the end of the 2023/24 season, and could be set to leave as Freiburg step up their interest and initiate talks with the player’s entourage.
