Frank Lampard closes in on Premier League return – but it won’t be with Everton | OneFootball

Frank Lampard is going to be linked with every Premier League job outside that top 6 that comes up from now until he gets one of them, so it’s no surprise to see him mentioned immediately in connection with the Everton job, in places like the Evening Standard.

His time at Chelsea left him in a bit of an odd spot – it went well to start with but finished badly, and given that he was managing one of the top teams in the league, nobody is quite sure how good he is.

One of these sides will eventually take the plunge, and we will then get a much better idea of his qualities as a manager in a less unique situation than being Chelsea boss.

We don’t think it will be Everton, however. After the disastrous appointment of Rafa Benitez, they seem likely to focus on appointing someone with connections to the club to try and get the fans back onside.
