In an interview with SportBild, France and Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribéry (39) said that is it regrettable that the Bavarian club failed in their attempts to sign Kylian Mbappé (24) when he was younger.

The French winger, who won a runners-up medal with Les Bleus in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, spent the majority of his career at Bayern Munich. During his time in Bavaria, he won the Champions League in 2013, as well as nine Bundesliga titles.

Prior to PSG’s meeting against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, Ribéry, who recently retired from the game, reflected on the club’s failed attempts to sign Mbappé when he was younger. “It would have been good to see Mbappé at Bayern Munich. But that’s life. There is never a guarantee of signing a player,” said the former Olympique de Marseille winger in an interview transcribed by RMC Sport.

Franck Ribéry urges Bayern Munich to sign Randal Kolo Muani

He has now urged his former club to turn their attention to another young French forward – Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani (24). The former FC Nantes forward has enjoyed an excellent debut season in Germany after signing from Les Canaris on a free transfer n the summer.

[Kolo Muani] has character. What he’s doing at Frankfurt is great. He is young and has potential, so the answer (of whether to sign him) is clear. Bayern have always signed young players with high potential, but you’ll have to ask Brazzo (Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich’s sporting director) about that,” said Ribéry.

L’Équipe have reported that Bayern Munich, as well as PSG, Manchester United and Liverpool, were all interested in the €100m-rated forward.
