Franck Ribéry’s debut season at Fiorentina has been hit and miss.
The winger got off to a fantastic start but a nasty ankle injury curtailed his progress meaning his start against Lazio on Saturday night is just his second in the last seven months.
But he didn’t take long to make up for lost time in the Eternal City against Simone Inzaghi’s Scudetto hopefuls.
On the day that his former Bayern Munich team-mate Arjen Robben announced his retirement u-turn, Ribéry wasn’t to be outshone by his old friend.
He beat three Aquile players with a sublime display of dribbling before driving the ball home – to show that age is just a number, a little like another ex-Fiorentina star.
He’s still got it.
