The agent of Lazio defender Federico Acerbi has given an update on the situation of his possible move to Inter, admitting that while the player would like to make the move, the Nerazzurri are still looking at other possibility.
Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, Acerbi’s agent Federico Pastorello explained the purpose of his meeting with Inter executives today, while also stating that Lazio would be willing to loan the 34-year-old, and that he expects more clarity after Friday’s match between the Nerazzurri and the Biancocelesti.
Pastorello was at Inter’s headquarters today where he and the Nerazzurri’s directors spoke about the possibility of his arrival on loan from Lazio, with the 34-year-old one of the likeliest candidates to be the final signing of the summer and a replacement for Ranocchia.
The Nerazzurri have also been linked with some other defenders before the transfer window closes, with Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji and Chelsea’s Nathaniel Chalobah widely reported as targets, and Pastorello made no secret of the fact that this came into their discussions.
“It went well, we just took stock of the situation,” he said of the meeting, “it’s well known that Inter are looking for a central defender. Let’s see if it ends up being Acerbi or someone else, I’ll be honest and say that they were honest about confirming that there are other candidates.”
“The player, being Italian and having already worked with Inzaghi, is certainly one of the candidates,” he said of his client Acerbi.
“However, we have taken a small step forward, in that Lazio have opened up to a loan deal,” he added.
“Clearly it would be a goal for him,” Pastorello said of his client. “If he is to leave Lazio, then Inter would be one of the favourite destinations.”
“We’ll talk about it more in the next few days,” he added. “100% after the game.”
