Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Emiliano Martinez is not exactly the most popular man in France right now.

The Argentina goalkeeper’s antics during and after the epic 2022 World Cup final have caused a bit of a stir – to say the least.

Martinez went into full savage mode in the penalty shootout, where Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni’s misses paved the way for La Albiceleste’s third triumph.

And after the memorable victory, the Aston Villa shot-stopper seems to have made it his mission to make himself public enemy number one.

He was seen mocking hat-trick hero Kylian Mbappe in the dressing room celebrations, while Martinez was even seen holding a baby doll with a picture of the Paris Saint-Germain striker on it during the open-top bus parade in Buenos Aires.

Unsurprisingly, Martinez’s actions haven’t gone down well at all with those associated with France.

And there’s one man in particular who’s gone in on the former Arsenal goalkeeper; 2018 World Cup winner, Adil Rami.

Rami, who currently plays as a centre-back for Ligue 1 side Troyes, did not hold back in a series of posts on his Instagram story.

Per Football Espana, he even labelled Martinez as “the most hated man”.

Rami wrote: “The biggest s*** of the World Cup. The most hated man.”

He continued: “Mbappe traumatised them so much that they are celebrating their victory over our national team more than the World Cup.”

“The Golden Glove is this guy,” Rami finished by saying, referencing Morocco’s hero Yassine Bounou – who conceded only three goals all tournament, one of them an own goal by Nayef Aguerd in the victory over Canada.

Yeah, we can’t imagine Martinez is on Rami’s Christmas card list this year or any year in the future. Although, the Villa goalkeeper almost certainly won’t care one bit about the criticism he’s received in recent days.

Why would you when you played a key role in your country becoming champions of the world, eh?

Martinez may have conceded three goals to Mbappe in the final, but his save on Randal Kolo Muani in virtually the final minute of extra-time will go down as one of the best and most important in football history.
