France will face Germany in a friendly game for the upcoming international break, in March 2024. Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus will host Julian Nagelsmann’ Mannschaft at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium.
Les Bleus are not able to host Germany at the Stade de France, considering the ground is being readied for next summer’s Paris Olympic Games. France haven’t played in Lyon since September 2021 and a 2-0 win against Finland in a 2022 World Cup qualifier. “It’s not official yet, but I can already tell you this anyway. We’ll play France in March, at Lyon“, said German FA Technical Director Rudi Völler during Saturday’s Euro 2024 Group stage draw at Hamburg. “Then, we’ll play The Netherlands, we don’t know where yet.“
Völler is the only national team coach to have beaten France this calendar year. Les Bleus suffered their first and only defeat of the calendar year against Germany last September. A heavily-rotated Kylian Mbappé-less France lost 2-1 at Dortmund. Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané scored for the hosts. Antoine Griezmann halved the deficit from the penalty spot late on.
France have learnt today who they will be facing in the Euro 2024 group stage. Les Bleus will lock horns with Austria, Netherlands and either one of Poland, Wales, Finland and Estonia.
