Inter Milan superstar forward Marcus Thuram had a rough game as Bayer Leverkusen eked out a slender 1-0 victory last time.
According to TMW, the French talisman was among Inter’s least impressive performers at the BayArena.
Thuram retained his place in the starting XI after scoring his tenth Serie A goal this season against Parma last Friday.
However, Simone Inzaghi left his attacking partner, Lautaro Martinez, on the bench in favor of Mehdi Taremi.
Unlike other UEFA Champions League games this season, Inzaghi’s call wasn’t on the money last evening.
Thuram has been Inter’s standout attacker this season.
Familiar with the opposition, the former Borussia Monchengladbach star entered the match in red-hot form.
But nothing went his way on his return to Germany as Leverkusen kept him at arm’s length all game.
A lack of support from Taremi often left the 27-year-old alone against Xabi Alonso’s entire defense.
As a result of Inter’s disjointed performance, Leverkusen goalkeeper Matej Kovar didn’t have to make a single save.
With Taremi and Thuram leading the line, they shouldered much of the blame for the visitors’ ineffective offensive display.
Hopefully, Thuram will return to his best against Lazio next week.
