Marcus Thuram is adamant that Inter Milan should have had a penalty in today’s Serie A derby against AC Milan.
Thuram spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the match. He admitted that the Nerazzurri are “not satisfied” with the result.
In the end, Inter and Milan had to settle for a point apiece.
It was a dramatic finale which saw Nerazzurri defender Stefan de Vrij score in stoppage time to salvage a result.
But prior to that, Inter had been knocking on the door for all of the second half.
Inter hit the post on three occasions. There were innumerable crosses and corner kicks into the box.
And then there was also a big penalty appeal from the Nerazzurri.
This came after Inter striker Marcus Thuram was through on goal, in a foot race with Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic.
Thuram was able to get himself between Pavlovic and the ball. But the Serbian former Red Bull Salzburg defender bundled him over in the penalty area.
In the meantime, Milan defender Theo Hernandez had also gotten back to cover. The Frenchman slid in to clear the ball from danger.
Referee Daniele Chiffi did not give a penalty for the incident.
However, subsequent replays appeared to show a clear trip on Thuram by Pavlovic.
After the match, Inter striker Marcus Thuram said that “We should’ve had a penalty this evening.”
“That can happen,” he went on. “I miss goals, and the referee can make errors as well.”

“I don’t understand why VAR didn’t call him to the monitor,” Thuram continued. “Maybe they didn’t see it either.”
“It’s football,” he said. “Mistakes are a part of it, and we’re only taking a point, but we had a good reaction.”
“Now we continue our season.”
Thuram added that “When you play for Inter, you can’t settle for a draw.”
“If we score in the last minute, it’s better than a loss. But we’re not satisfied with it.”
