Marcus Thuram is expected to be given the nod over AC Milan’s Olivier Giroud when France face Germany on Saturday in what is Les Bleus’ penultimate match before this summer’s Euros.

Didier Deschamps has often trusted Giroud to lead the line, but the ageing AC Milan forward may have to settle for a place on the bench in Lyon on Saturday. Instead, it is Inter Milan’s Thuram who is expected to start, also staving off competition from Randal Kolo Muani.

Kylian Mbappé will start and captain the side on the left, whilst Paris Saint-Germain teammate Ousmane Dembélé will look to consolidate his place on the opposite wing. MIke Maignan remains a doubt for the game as he recovers from a small niggle. Should the AC Milan goalkeeper not start, it will likely be RC Lens’ Brice Samba who will start in his place.
