EURO 2024 continued on Monday with three more intriguing games.
Here's what went down.
Scorers: Wöber OG 38'
France had to hold on to kick off their EURO 2024 campaign with a 1-0 win over Austria.
Kylian Mbappé enjoyed an early opening for Les Bleus as his shot was tipped into the side netting by Patrick Pentz.
Ralf Rangnick's side also went close to breaking the deadlock as Mike Maignan denied Christoph Baumgartner at close-range.
But the former world champions finally broke the deadlock when Maximilian Wöber headed Mbappé's cross into his own net.
Mbappé spurned a golden opportunity to extend the advantage when he fired a shot horribly wide midway through the second half.
The Real Madrid star later went off with a broken nose as his side held on to claim second spot in Group D behind the Netherlands.
Scorers: Schranz 7'
Slovakia pulled off the first true shock result of EURO 2024 with a famous 1-0 win against Belgium in Frankfurt.
The Red Devils almost opened the scoring inside two minutes through Romelu Lukaku, and really should have. Jérémy Doku broke free and made a dangerous run into the box before feeding the ball towards Kevin de Bruyne.
The ball bounced off the Belgian skipper and into the path of Lukaku, who could only fire a shot straight at Martin Dúbravka from close range.
Slovakia took the lead after seven minutes, Doku giving the ball away in a dangerous position and being made pay for it. The ball was quickly moved inside the box and Ivan Schranz reacted quickest following a good save from Koen Casteels to volley home the opener.
Dúbravka almost suffered the same fate as Doku, needlessly gifting the ball to Leandro Trossard when he should have just booted it. Luckily for the Slovakian keeper, the Arsenal forward's effort sailed over the bar.
Lukaku missed another good chance before the break when his touch let him down in a great position between the Slovakian centre backs. In truth, the supposed underdogs were much the better team in the first half.
The striker thought he had got his goal 10 minutes into the second half, tapping home from close range after Amadou Onana headed Trossard's cross into his path. However, the VAR ruled he was marginally offside.
Belgium came close again minutes later, Johan Bakayoko seeing his goalbound shot brilliantly cleared off the line by Dávid Hancko.
Lukaku had another goal ruled out with four minutes remaing. After finishing brilliantly after Bakayoko pulled the ball back for him, it was ruled that the winger had handled the ball prior in the build up.
Slovakia held out for what must be their biggest win since beating defending champions Italy at the 2010 World Cup.
Scorers: Stanciu 30', Marin 53', Drǎguş 58'
Romania impressed in their opening game of Group E as they beat Ukraine 3-0 in Munich.
It was Ukraine who looked dangerous in the opening exchanges with Mykhailo Mudryk and Dovbyk looking dangerous.
But despite enjoying plenty of possession in the opening half hour, Ukraine struggled to turn their monopoly of the ball into actual chances.
And they would pay for that lack of cutting edge as Romania opened the scoring on 30 minutes as Nicolae Stanciu scored the goal of the tournament so far.
Romania weren't far away from getting a second not long after as Dennis Man cut inside on his left foot but saw his deflected effort go just wide of the far post.
From the resulting corner, Romania then hit the crossbar as Coman's smart corner went over the head of Lunin and clipped the woodwork.
Into the second half and once again it was Romania who were looking more potent in the final third as Coman cannoned a shot just wide.
But their goal did come just before the hour mark as Razvan Marin's first time effort went under Lunin's arms and into the bottom corner.
This was turning into a rout for Romania as Denis Drǎguş tapped in from close range to net a third.
Ukraine tried to pull one back as Mudryk fired over from close range but it just wasn't to be their day.
Tomorrow sees every nation finally having played with Group F taking its bow.
