Corinne Diacre has stepped down as head coach of the French women’s national team.
Corinne Diacre is no longer the head coach of France's women's national team. Confirmed by the FFF.–
The decision comes days after three stars of the national team — Wendie Renard, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Kadidiatou Diani — said they would not play at the summer’s World Cup unless there were changes made to the environment at international camps.
Diacre was appointed in 2017 and stripped Renard of the captaincy (though the defender was reappointed as captain in 2021) and controversially omitted Katoto from the squad for the 2019 World Cup. There have been other issues with big names, with former captain Amandine Henry omitted from the squad for last summer’s Euros.
France now have to name a replacement for Diacre with less than five months until the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
