Mary Fowler has been nominated for the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Season award.

It follows a superb individual campaign by the Australia international who scored six goals and registered seven assists in 17 top-flight matches before she suffered an injury in April.

The versatile forward netted and assisted for the first time in 2024/25 during our 2-0 win over West Ham in October when providing Lauren Hemp’s opener and doubling our advantage in the second half.

Fowler then continued to impress and registered an assist in our 4-0 league win over Leicester at the Joie Stadium in December before setting a new WSL record across January and February.

The 22-year-old became the first player in the division’s history to register two goal involvements in four straight top-flight matches which began when providing both of the Blues’ goals in our 4-2 defeat to Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.

She then set up Vivianne Miedema and scored a fantastic goal of her own in our strong 4-2 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park ahead of bagging a brace in our narrow 4-3 defeat to Arsenal in our following assignment.

Fowler etched her name in the record books in our following league assignment when teeing up both goals in Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s first-half brace as we put Liverpool to the sword 4-0 to close February.

After featuring heavily in our relentless March where we played eight games in all competitions, she set up Kerstin Casparij’s goal in our eventual 2-1 win over Brighton before she ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in our FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United in our following assignment.

Fowler faces competition for the award from Chelsea’s Sandi Baltimore and Aggie Beever-Jones, Arsenal’s Alessia Russo and Mariona Caldentey, Manchester United’s Maya Le Tissier, West Ham’s Shekiera Martinez, Brighton’s Kiko Seike and Liverpool’s Olivia Smith.

Voting closes on Friday 9 May at 12:00 (UK) before the winner is announced on Sunday 11 May at the Barclays Women’s Super League awards dinner.

Congratulations on being nominated for Player of the Season, Mary – vote for the Australia international here!
