Four players that could still leave Barcelona in January

Barcelona have faced trouble with the wage bill in the last six months, failing to smoothly register new players. Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia, and Sergio Aguero had to wait for their official registration before the La Liga season started, while Ferran Torres’ registration was delayed in January.

With Xavi looking to bring in more players in the winter, especially starting with a centre-forward, Barcelona need to wrap up some departures. Alvaro Morata is Barcelona’s top priority, while the likes of Elche’s Lucas Boye and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng have been rumoured to be the alternatives.

But who are the players Barça can offload immediately to help with arrival? There are four names on the table – Ousmane Dembele, Oscar Mingueza, Riqui Puig, and Inaki Pena.

Ousmane Dembele

Dembele has reportedly refused to extend his contract on Barcelona’s terms and is set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer. However, the club understands how important it is to offload the Frenchman in the winter.

Chelsea are said to be interested in Dembele’s signature, and with his valuation being dropped to as low as €4 million, the Blues are licking their lips.

Oscar Mingueza

With five other centre-backs already at the club, Mingueza has not received the chances fans expected him to through the season. More often than not, he’s been asked to do a job in the fullback positions.

Valencia were linked to him for a while this month, but that interest soon died. Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux seemed to have an agreement with Barcelona over a transfer, but it was quickly rejected by the player himself.

Riqui Puig

A highlight of every transfer window, it seems Puig is set to stay at Barcelona for the rest of his career. Xavi’s arrival seemed to shake up things for the youngster, but he has fallen into his old ways on the bench.

Inaki Pena

Pena is surprisingly closest to an exit right now, with Galatasary interested in his services on loan. However, his position in the team is in direct tandem with Neto, who has requested to leave multiple times now, only for Barcelona to turn a blind eye.
