Inter Milan have four representatives in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week following their slim win over Atletico Madrid.

Europe’s elite club tournament resumed last week with four clashes in the Round of 16. The action resumed with another four showdowns this midweek to round off the first-leg encounters.

As usual, UEFA revealed the team of the week on its official website.

Interestingly, the Nerazzurri had the largest host, with four of their players getting the nod in the 5-2-3 lineup.

Yann Sommer was chosen as the best goalkeeper after collecting yet another clean sheet.

This inclusion might raise a few eyebrows given that the Swiss was a mere spectator. In fact, the 35-year-old didn’t have a save to make all evening, as Atletico Madrid failed to make a single shot on target.

Nevertheless, few would argue against the inclusion of Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni. The two Inter defenders were rock solid at the back, playing an instrumental role in securing a clean sheet.

Finally, UEFA picked Marko Arnautovic in the attacking trio.

The Austrian replaced the injured Marcus Thuram at the interval. Although he wasted a few glorious chances, he eventually scored the solitary strike of the encounter.

The 34-year-old joins a star-studded attack that includes Robert Lewandowski and Victor Osimhen. Both strikers were on target in the 1-1 draw between Napoli and Barcelona.

However, some Inter fans would argue that Nicolo Barella deserved a mention. The Italian was the man of the match on many accounts.

Nevertheless, UEFA only picked two midfielders in the shape of PSV Eindhoven’s Joey Veerman and Porto’s Galeno. The latter scored a last-minute winner against Arsenal.
