Arsenal are not sure whether they will have Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal or Héctor Bellerín when they play Fulham on Tuesday.

The Gunners take on Claudio Ranieri’s side at the Emirates Stadium on New Year’s Day.

However, they could be forced into playing a makeshift defence yet again after conceding five against Liverpool.

Unai Emery lose Héctor Bellerín to a calf strain in the defeat to Southampton just over two weeks ago and the right-back has only just returned to training.

Fellow Spaniard Monreal is also not expected to return yet. He was forced off with a hamstring strain on 22 December, in his only appearance in the last four weeks.

Mustafi returned from a similar injury to play at Anfield on Saturday but was substituted at half-time.

All those injuries mean Stephan Lichtsteiner, who has struggled for form, and Laurent Koscielny, recently back from a seven month absence, are likely to feature again.

Meanwhile, Mesut Özil is being assessed ahead of Arsenal’s first game of the year. The German missed out on the trip to Merseyside, with Arsenal blaming a knee injury.
