The Guardian have released the 2023 edition of their Next Generation series, which profiles some of the best young players born in 2006. In this edition, four players from Bundesliga clubs have been included.
Borussia Dortmund leads the way with three players included in the list. Of the three players included, Julien Duranville is the only one to have played for the first team in a professional game. Duranville made his debut for Dortmund on the final day of last season against Mainz and gave Dortmund a spark as they were chasing not only for a win against Mainz but also for the title.
The other Dortmund players mentioned are Paris Brunner, who has been one of Dortmund’s stand-out players in their youth academy for several years and carries huge potential and could potentially follow the same path as Youssoufa Moukoko. The final Dortmund player is defender Almugera Kabar who Dortmund also believe has huge potential and with the full-back areas being rather weak for Dortmund, they will hope the 17-year-old will live up to this potential.
Bayern’s sole representative in the list is Bulgarian Valentin Yotov. The winger is part of Bayern’s under-19s but has yet to see the first team and with the path to the Bayern first team not easy to get into, he may end up following the likes of Grant-Leon Ranos out of the club.
Finally, the other former Bundesliga player in the list is Noah Darvich. The former Freiburg midfielder moved to Barcelona in the summer for €5m and has hit the ground running. The article states that he is already playing for Barcelona’s reserve team and is expected to progress rapidly into the first team eventually.
