The Curacao international has been left out of the Blues' pre-season plans with a move away from the Midlands on the cards

Juninho Bacuna looks set to leave Birmingham City this summer, with Blues accepting a bid from Turkish side Sivasspor for his services earlier this month.
The 26-year-old was given permission to speak to th Turkish Super Lig outfit, and has been omitted from the Midlands side’s pre-season plans as he looks to secure a move away from the club.
Another - as yet unnamed - club are also said to be monitoring the situation with the Curacao international, while Italian side Sassuolo were also named as being interested earlier in the transfer window.
With less than a year left on his current deal at St. Andrew’s, it looks like Bacuna’s time at the club is up, but Football League World’s resident Bluenose Mike Gibbs believes his side are making the right decision in parting ways.
Bacuna joined the Blues back in the January of 2022, as he brought a short-lived spell in Scotland with Glasgow Rangers to an abrupt end after just six months north of the border.
Since then, the midfielder has gone on to make over 100 league appearances in a blue shirt, and scored eleven goals in the Championship, although he was unable to help keep his side in the second tier in the previous campaign.
And with a season in League One on the horizon, FLW's Birmingham fan pundit Mike Gibbs believes City are better off cutting all ties this summer, as new boss Chris Davies looks to put his own stamp on the team.
Gibbs told Football League World: “I think it is the right move for the club with Bacuna, he’s a great player - on his day I think he’s unbeatable, but he’s so inconsistent.
“I think he worked really hard last year and played in a lot of different positions, but I personally found him so frustrating.
“At League One level I’m sure he would be a level above, but has he got that grit and determination to see him come through the season with us? I don’t know.
“So I think it is the right move for the club, I would be really hopeful that the fee is north of the million that we paid for him.
“Personally I think he’s worth £2-3 million, but whether we will get that only time will tell - but it’s definitely the right move.”
Since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer, new boss Davies has overseen a mass turnaround in personnel at St. Andrew’s, with a number of new recruits through the door, as well as others leaving the club.
Veteran goalkeeper John Ruddy has left CIty to join Premier League side Newcastle United, while the likes of Marc Roberts, Neil Etheridge, Gary Gardner and Alex Pritchard have all moved on too
The Blues have wasted no time in bringing new players into the building though, with last season’s top scorer in League One, Alfie May [pictured], joining the club in a reported £775,000 deal from Charlton Athletic.
Goalkeeping duo Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Ryan Allsop have also made St Andrew’s their home this summer, as well as Alex Cochrane, who has joined from Scottish Premiership side Hearts.
European imports Emil Hansson and Willum Thor Willumsson have also signed up from Heracles Almelo and Go Ahead Eagles respectively, as work continues progress ahead of the season-opener next month.
With reinforcements steadily arriving throughout the summer, Bacuna is unlikely to be missed if he leaves for Turkey in the coming weeks, with a new-look City side ready to put the troubles of the previous campaign behind them.
