According to a report from SPORT, Vitor Roque’s agent Andre Cury has arrived in Barcelona to discuss the next steps of his potential move to Palmeiras.

It is said that Palmeiras have intensified their interest in signing the young striker, and discussions are ongoing between Barcelona, Real Betis and the player himself.

The key decision now is whether to move forward with Palmeiras’ proposal immediately or wait until the summer transfer window.

The story is complicated

Palmeiras have been persistent in their pursuit, putting forward a lucrative financial offer to Roque’s representatives. They are prepared to pay a significant transfer fee to Barcelona, but the deal hinges on the Catalan club’s willingness to facilitate negotiations.

Betis must also be convinced to release the player early, as he is currently tied to them on a two-year loan. For now, no formal agreement has been reached.

Cury’s visit to Barcelona could be crucial in resolving the situation. His objective is to evaluate all available options and determine the best path for Roque’s career.

The forward faces a major decision—remain in Europe, where his playing time at Betis is extremely limited, or return to Brazil, where Palmeiras are offering him a prominent role.

Palmeiras’ offer is a big one

The Brazilian club has made it clear that they see him as a key player for the future, promising him a starting spot and making him their highest-paid player.

However, a major hurdle in this transfer is convincing Betis to terminate the loan agreement early. At this stage, Betis are unwilling to release him unless they receive financial compensation.

From their perspective, letting go of Roque without a solid replacement would be a risk, especially with their new signing, Cucho Hernandez, still unregistered for European competition.

Regardless, Betis stand to benefit from Roque’s departure.

Given his lack of playing time, they could save a part of his wages while also avoiding a €1.5 million compensation payment to Barcelona, which is required if he fails to reach a minimum number of appearances.
