Western United confirmed the signing of striker Besart Berisha in a move sure to spice up their rivalry with Melbourne Victory.
Berisha, 34, was linked to all three Melbourne clubs – Victory, City and newcomers Western United – after leaving Sanfrecce Hiroshima in August.
Western United, who are set to feature in their maiden A-League campaign, confirmed the signing of the competition's all-time leading goalscorer on Saturday.
"Besart is green and black," the club wrote on Twitter.
Berisha spent four seasons with Victory after starring at Brisbane Roar, scoring 116 A-League goals in 186 games for both clubs.
He has won four championships and two premierships with Victory and Roar, as well as the FFA Cup with the former.
Berisha joins a Western United squad that includes the likes of former Italy international Alessandro Diamanti and ex-Greece attacker Panagiotis Kone.
Western United will play their first A-League game against Wellington Phoenix on October 13.
