Voetbal International reports that Riechedly Bazoer has submitted a transfer at AZ Alkmaar. The former VfL Wolfsburg and FC Porto midfielder wants to transfer abroad this summer after experiencing a difficult season at the AFAS Stadion.

Bazoer joined AZ last summer on a free transfer from Vitesse. The 26-year-old struggled for game time, making just 16 Eredivisie appearances as AZ finished fourth in the table. Bazoer came off the bench in 15 of those fixtures. He also featured seven times in the Europa Conference League, but in six of those games, he started as a substitute.

With two years remaining on his contract, Bazoer wants to leave. AZ’s star man Tijjani Reijnders looks to be heading for the exit door as AC Milan look to sign the centre-midfielder. If Reijnders departs, it could offer Bazoer more playing time in midfield. Speaking to Noordhollands Dagblad, Riechedly Bazoer said ‘It just didn’t turn out how I expected. The same applies to AZ, of course. This is disappointing for me, but also for the club.’

Bazoer, who previously played 71 matches for Ajax, expressed his desire to move abroad. He continued by saying ‘I’ve had quite a few clubs in the Eredivisie, I think a step to a different league would be good. AZ has to get out with that club, only then can I leave. All parties must be satisfied.’
