Glenn Hoddle wants Jose Mourinho to clear out any tactical confusions with his players after Fulham draw

Speaking to Premier League Productions (h/t Metro), former Tottenham Hotspur player Glenn Hoddle blamed confusion amongst Spurs players regarding the tactics of Jose Mourinho in the draw against Fulham.

Spurs took the lead in the first half, thanks to a Harry Kane header. The scoreline remained 1-0 until the 74th minute when Ivan Cavaleiro headed home the equalizer.

And according to Hoddle, this happened due to Spurs inviting pressure and being confused between wanting to attack or defend.

The former Spurs player stated that the side, including striker Harry Kane, drop too deep after taking the lead. That is exactly what they did against Fulham, which is why they couldn’t win. (h/t Metro)

Hoddle says that the players look confused on the pitch; they seem like they don’t know if they have to attack and get the second goal, or sit back and defend.

“At the moment they look as though they are in two minds. They’ve got to get 100%  clarity from the manager, ‘are we going for it to get the second and kill this game off’?”

Make up your mind!

The English pundit then mentions that it looks like some Spurs players want to attack while the others want to defend.

“It seems to me as if a bit of the team want to attack and the others want to defend a little bit.”

The Spurs legend is not wrong when he says that the team should look to kill the game off at times. If that doesn’t happen, the team should have clarity over what to do.

However, such words make the situation more complicated than it needs to be. Simply put, the team should learn to take chances whenever it arrives.

Had Son Heung-min scored from his chance just three minutes before Cavaleiro’s goal, then we wouldn’t even be having this debate.
